Awesome Tees for Back to School and the Best Back to School Commercial Ever

Do you remember that commercial for back to school with the parents rejoicing and the kids pouting? It was from Staples and it was set to the tune of "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year." It was from the 90s. Yes, I was in school and definitely had no kids, but I couldn't help but laugh at it. (I'll put the Youtube link at the end of the blog) Well it's that time again - back to school.

Now I realize that many kids are already back in class, some for a couple weeks, yet there are some kids who have a week and a half more before class starts. But it's never to early or late to think about buying them some t-shirts. Tees are great for the whole school year. When the weather is hot, you can wear only the tee. When it's cooler you can later the tee over long sleeve shirts or under a hoodie. They are also great for gym class.

Remember the Total Solar Eclipse with these Fun T-Shirts

Were you in the path of totality? Or did you watch a partial eclipse today? We were in Michigan, streaming the various cities in the path of totality and we were able to experience the partial eclipse. Still cool, but nothing like those who experienced the total eclipse. Nevertheless, we designed some shirts for those who were able to experience the eclipse today.

We did a post three weeks ago on some eclipse shirts we had for sale. You can view that post here. But today, we are posting some shirts for people who experienced the eclipse. It sounds like it was an amazing experience, and we did our best to capture that on tees.

I Saw Baily's Beads

No Bailey isn't spelled wrong. We checked a few times :) This is a tee for anyone in the path of totality. Just before total darkness and just before the ring comes back, you can experience Baily's Beads. That's right, during a total solar eclipse, you can see them two times if you are in the path of totality. This only comes in black but it comes in kids', men's, and women's fits.

Shadow Bands are Totality Awesome

Even if you did get to see the total solar eclipse, you may not have seen the shadow bands. It doesn't happen every time. Some say they look like parallel snakes on the ground. Did you see them? Back to School -- Do you remember your favorite teacher?

It's back to school time. The commercials are on TV, the sales are in the stores, the first day of school is quickly approaching.

For us, here at 4Craig T-Shirts, it means we need to take a break. We are taking a break from designing, from technology, and from our regular schedule. We need to regroup, take a mental break, and spend more family time together. Before the crazy school year starts again and we are pulled in too many different directions. Don't worry, we'll be back to our regular schedule soon. You won't believe some of the fall designs we have planned. We are very excited about what's coming up for us. 

But before we go, I want to give a shout out to all the teachers out there. It's a hard job that seems to be underappreciated. I remember some of my favorite teachers with great fondness. Mrs. Doty was my 8th grade math teacher. Math was my most hated subject. I think I was bored. I loved and thrived in the creative classes. But that year, Mrs. Doty showed me how to tackle any math problem. She taught me how to think in math class, a skill that didn't come natural to me. She taught me that sometimes it takes a little work to tackle a new skill, but the hard work is worth it. That last one is one I use even now. She inspired me to be more than just a creative type, I could master some of the boring (to me) skills too.

Thanks to all the teachers out there, you are inspiring kids in ways you probably don't know.

2017 Total Solar Eclipse T-Shirt Degins including tie dye and emoji versions

Are you excited for the eclipse? It's less than three weeks away. Here at 4Craig, we're teaching the kids about eclipse safety. They already know what an eclipse is (thanks to Minecraft and Terraria), but this is their first in real life and it's an exciting one.

We don't live in the area where the eclipse will be total, but that's okay. It's thrilling anyway. I remember my first one. We were able to get out of class to watch. We had little paper plates to watch the shadow on, which is what we'll probably do again and then go watch the actual eclipse on YouTube because it's 2017 and that's what we do. We will probably have a mini viewing party with special snacks with friends, so we can share the experience.

Summer Camping

We are taking a little time off from designing shirts to plan for a camping trip. I know many of you are already thinking of back to school, but, here in Michigan, summer vacation lasts until Labor Day. We get to enjoy summer most of June, all of July and all of August. So we enjoy camping.

Perhaps not enjoy it so much as enjoy the memories of it. It's hard to go camping when you are the adult. Actually it tires me out to prepare for it, so I usually start the trip tired and am exhausted by the end of it. However, spending time with your family is worth the hassle. We have so many great memories of camping on Lake Michigan on the beach, hearing Tahquamenon- Falls from our tent at night, hikes into the woods, letterboxing on Mackinaw Island, finding yummy homemade ice cream shops, cooking dinner over a campfire, playing games as a family. These are memories we'll cherish after the kids have moved out and have families of their own.

We  here at 4Craig are tent campers. We would love an RV, but we don't want to go into debt to pay for it. So we use a tent. There's an argument about whether RV camping is really camping but for what we love about camping, you can use an RV or a tent. You can get away from your normal schedule and your normal life in an RV or a tent. Although, it seems easier to do in a tent, it's cheaper and you are not tempted to sit on the couch and watch TV because most tents do not have them.

We may not be designing, but we don't mind selling shirts right now :)  We are also waiting for a new tent to be shipped here. It's instant so hopefully less arguments (not that we here at 4Craig shirts ever argue) and less time to set up our campsite.
